DEI BOOK REVIEW | The Memo: What Women of Color Need to Know to Secure a Seat at the table by Minda Harts
Minda explains microaggressions, bias, the wage gap and, its effects on women of color. She provides tips on how to educate and participate while remaining authentic in corporate America. She demonstrates how women of color can have a position and be impactful without the need to yell their position from the rooftops.
I love that Minda grabs the reader making them feel like a fellow coworker and extended family. Showing the fine line between work environment and the social constructs that can be crafted in the workplace. This is the concept that many women of color in BNI have personally expressed they have put into practice with their business.
Minda conveys that this book is for all readers, not just women of color. Her writing style takes on a spoken cadence that relaxes the reader and with this being only 209 pages, this short read. Thank you Minda, for a business book that informs, empowers, and educates the reader!
